Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, andLearning (MEAL) department plays a centralrole in ensuring the Syria Country Office’s (SCO) programming and operations are evidence-based and focused on qualityprogramming. The department is accountable for tracking the progress of SCO’s projects against theiroutcome and output targets and meeting donorcommitments, conducting evaluations of projects to determine theirsuccess and impact againstkey areas, integrating learning into all aspects of the project cycle to ensure adaptive programming and a culture a continuous learning and improvement, and ensuring accountability to affected communities through information sharing, feedback and reporting mechanisms, and that the voices of those we serve areincorporated into our programs and decision makingprocesses. The MEAL team in the FieldOffices is responsible for tasks associated with the implementation of programs, including keyparts of the data lifecycle (collection, storage, analysis, usage, archiving and destruction), regularinternal and donorreporting, managing relationships with partners, including through capacity building, and engaging directly with beneficiaries for information sharing and accountability activities. The Accountability team in the Field Offices, as a sub-team within MEAL, is responsible for establishing and maintaining accountability systems in the Field Office in line with the SCO Accountability Framework and the Core Humanitarian Standard, which enables children andcommunities to (i) be informed about our mandate, the nature of our response and their entitlements, (ii)contribute to decisions about the designand implementation of our activities, and (iii) provide and receive timely, appropriate responses to complaints and feedback about our interventions, whichwill help improve the SCO’s programming.
